"Who Has Known Heights" Book Review

Editor’s Review:

Who Has Known Heights: The Mystique Memoirs of a Melancholic Mind is a profound and timeless love story between Westcott and Regn, he a young man and she an older, married woman with grown children. Poetic prose takes the reader into dramatic and realistic dream sequences and layers the structure of their lives to reveal their personal histories juxtaposed across time, well before they have met each other.

Their attraction and love evolve over a period of years through longing, consummation, estrangement, and reconciliation, transcending societal stereotypes related to age, forbidden commitments and gender roles. Waves of emotion take them from the depths of depression to the heights of joy.

Circumstances prevent them from loving openly, yet they find ways to be together and cross the gulfs created by their age, cultural, and gender differences.

The last chapter of Who Has Known Heights is sheer genius, bringing Westcott and Regn’s story to an unexpected close. Yet it must end this way for their love to endure.
